Social Media Moderator Application
(Part-Time, Contract)
Type: 1099 contractor
Hours: 5 hours per week, Sunday to Thursday
Pay: $30 per hour
Location: U.S. residents only
About the Role
We’re looking for someone to help us tend the online spaces where our herbal friends gather—Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This is a small yet significant role: reading and responding to comments and instant messages with warmth, care, and accuracy without using artificial intelligence.
If you love plants, people, and gentle conversation—and you’re comfortable balancing kindness with clear boundaries—you might be the perfect fit.
Responsibilities
- Read and respond to social media comments and DMs twice a day (morning and evening) without using artificial intelligence.
- Keep our social spaces welcoming, informed, and aligned with our school’s values.
- Leave a few brief notes after each session on a shared doc, noting what came up, what stood out, and any items that might require follow-up.
- Contact staff immediately if something concerning arises that requires a team response. Otherwise, routine comments and friendly conversation can stay in your hands.
- If hired, you’ll begin with a paid onboarding session to become familiar with our voice, values, and community approach.
Hours
Friday and Saturday are your days off, although we may occasionally request your paid help during sales or launches—with plenty of notice. You’ll work 30 minutes each morning and 30 minutes each evening, with sessions spread roughly 8-12 hours apart to keep our community conversations timely.
The exact times you work are somewhat flexible and designed to fit comfortably around your other work or life commitments; however, we expect coverage every morning and evening on assigned workdays.
*There’s also the potential for additional hours for someone with content scheduling (or content creation) skills who has proven to be dependable and skilled in the moderation role.
Qualifications
- Based in the U.S. and able to work as a 1099 contractor.
- Experienced in using Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
- Clear, kind, and accurate writer, with excellent communication skills.
- Dependable, with good time management.
- Self-starter who manages tasks confidently and asks for input or clarification when needed.
- Comfortable using Grammarly, Google Docs, and Gmail.
- A background or strong interest in herbalism.
- Previous experience in community moderation, social media marketing, and content creation is a significant plus, but not required.
We are no longer accepting applications for this position. Thank you!
