Web Project Manager

The Project Manager is involved with both online and in-person promotion of The Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, self-motivation, efficient time management, and the ability to troubleshoot various types of problems. Responsibilities include website development, administration, and management; marketing, advertising, and SEO; designing and editing course materials, and more. This position will initially be working under other management staff so being comfortable taking directions is necessary. Tasks and projects may change over time, depending on the needs of the school. Professionalism in written, verbal, and project management will be required. In order to help ensure all aspects of the Project Manager position are performed as expected, measurable metrics will be provided along with regularly scheduled performance reviews.

Responsibilities:

Website Management (20%)

  • Keeping website up to date and coordinating website updates with web developers as needed
  • Integrating and managing an extensive array of WordPress plugins
  • Troubleshooting technology glitches

Course Management (40%)

  • Uploading, designing, and organizing content for online programs (video, written, and photos) with a WordPress website
  • Written and verbal communication with students regarding technology issues accessing the website
  • Project management for course PDFs, including layout and editing
  • Collaborating on bi-monthly student newsletters
  • Updating course sales pages

Marketing and Content Management (30%)

  • SEO project management
  • Create advertisements for publications, websites and printed materials using Photoshop or InDesign
  • Writing press releases and forging networks with media interested in showcasing the program’s work
  • Assist with social media advertising
  • Helping to coordinate course sales events several times a year
  • Updating blog
  • Coordinating free mini-courses with the goal of increasing sales
  • Producing monthly marketing newsletters with free content for the general public

General Administration (10%)

  • Coordinating with other team members; daily email check-ins are required as well as occasional phone check-ins
  • Twice monthly team meetings (sometimes more frequent) in Asheville, NC
  • Stay up to date on programs, schedules and deadlines
  • Track time, expenditures, travel, and other required expenses

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience with project/ website management
  • Experience with website development and backend website management preferred
  • Experience with coding preferred
  • Exceptional customer service, writing and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple kinds of work
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong sense of self-motivation and initiative for problem solving and completing lengthy, multifaceted projects
  • Proficiency in WordPress, WP plugins, Microsoft Excel, Google Drive, InDesign, Photoshop, Mailchimp, and Adobe (knowledge of InDesign or Photoshop a must)
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Must be located within 1 hour of Asheville, NC
  • Availability to work remotely on a 9-5 Monday-Friday schedule, with occasional weekend work required
