Natalie Bogwalker
Asheville, NC

Natalie started getting excited about wild food when she was 6 when her mom told her that she would make a pie if Natalie picked enough berries. Natalie has taken an interest in berries, and expanded it into a passion for working with all materials gifted to us from nature.

She lives near Asheville in an earth-based community, where she makes baskets out of bark, wood and vines; pottery from dirt; shelter out of saplings, leaves, rawhide, mud, straw, wood, and bark; rope out of bark, nettles, and dogbane; jewelry out of rocks, bark, and skin; and clothing out of animal skins. She has taught wild foods cookery and primitive living skills at Earthskills Rendezvous, the LEAF festival, Breitenbush Hot Springs, and school and home-school programs; she has given talks about primitive living and edible plant walks at various universities.
